Scientists have discovered a revolutionary new treatment that makes you live longer.
It enhances your memory and makes you more creative. Makes you more attractive.
And you’ll build more muscle! Store less fat. It makes you slim. And lowers your food cravings.
You'll feel happier. Less depressed. Less anxious.
The one thing that does that better than anything is sleep.
For the average American, “an extra hour of sleep can do more for your daily happiness than a $60,000 raise”
(study by Daniel Kahneman).
Also, for man, lack of sleep makes your testosterone levels drop drastically since it’s produced while you sleep.
Goals of improving your sleep
Fall asleep easier
Have better sleep
Wake up more rested
Why modern life is wrecking your sleep (and how to fix it)
95% of sleep problems are due to overstimulation and lack of routine.
Your ancestor would’ve woken up roughly the same time. Taken no stimulants.
Eaten single-ingredient food (that’s all there was).
And roughly fallen asleep when the sun (the ONLY light source they had) started setting/going down.
We frankly don't do that. We are superhumans compared to our ancestors.
At our own peril, we control our energy, light.
And have endless access to all sorts of food, entertainment, and novelties.
Your old brain and body have no idea what is going on!
3 important variables to control that we will look into
Light
Temperature
Heart rate
Useful beliefs
Don't create superstition: Remove "have to, must, need to" etc. Instead, try to have a good routine 80-90% of the time.
Think "I don't need a lot of sleep”, but still do the actions that optimize your sleep (it removes sleep anxiety)
If you have trouble falling asleep, remember that you are still getting benefits from resting in a dark room (1>0)
Don't judge yourself if you didn’t get perfect sleep for some reason, humans — and animals don't need ideal sleep all the time to survive.
Be able to sleep on the ground or in a sleep dojo. “I can sleep anywhere” (useful belief when traveling)
If you’re tracking your sleep and looking at the results, be stoic and believe that you have 100% energy every single day.
"If you only do one thing for your health: sleep."
